Renowned British TikToker Dylan Page has earned admiration from Kenyan netizens after sharing a detailed video recounting the police shooting of Boniface Kariuki, a 22-year-old mask vendor in Nairobi.

“I am here in Nairobi, Kenya, and everyone needs to know exactly what happened here on Tuesday,” Dylan narrated in the video, standing on the very pavement where Kariuki was shot at close range by a police officer.

The emotional footage shows Dylan pointing to a patch of orange dirt, explaining, “The average person walking past, what might look like some random orange dirt, but it’s not, it’s covering blood.”

His powerful account has since struck a chord online, resonating with the growing public outrage over alleged state-sponsored violence and increasing civilian deaths.

Page said he delayed posting the video until he left Kenya, citing fears of interference and backlash.

“I wanted to post this only when I got home because not only is this a risky subject to speak about, but also to bring awareness to this matter on a global scale like this is something I don’t imagine is going to be appreciated by certain people,” he explained.

Kariuki’s shooting happened along Moi Avenue during recent anti-police brutality protests in Kenya.

He also connected Kariuki’s shooting to the wider protests that erupted following the death of teacher and blogger Albert Ojwang’, who died in police custody.

According to Page, Ojwang’ was allegedly detained after Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Lagat filed a complaint over an X post.

After being shuffled between police stations, he died at the Central Police Station under unclear circumstances. Protesters have been demanding the resignation of DIG Lagat.

Kariuki, Page emphasized, was not a protester but a street vendor trying to earn a living.

“The police officers shot a 22-year-old man in the head at point-blank range. He was not even protesting, he was selling face masks when police officers armed with riot gear and weaponry attacked him with punches and then unprovoked, shot him,” Dylan stated.

Despite the severity of his injuries, Kariuki miraculously survived.

“Boniface miraculously survived the gunshot that went through his head, right above his ear. Even if he makes out of the Intensive Care Unit, the CT Scanner shows that he suffered severe brain damage. His life will never be the same again,” Page added.

Thousands of Kenyans have since praised Dylan for his courage and advocacy.

“How do we thank this amazing dude???” one Instagram user, David Muriithi, wrote.

Another added, “This is journalism bro. Justice for Albert Ojwang! Justice for Boniface Kariuki.”

Dylan Page is a highly popular TikTok creator, widely known as “News Daddy” to his millions of followers.

He has amassed over 15 million followers across social media platforms by aggregating and sharing news from around the world in his distinctive, rapid-fire style.

His content often covers current events, humanitarian projects, and pop culture, making him a significant source of news for many, particularly younger audiences.

Starting his journey from a janitor, Dylan Page pursued his passion for content creation, building his “News Daddy” empire in just four years and accumulating billions of views.
