Kibera Soccer Women FC have clinched the 2025 FKF Women’s Cup title after a dramatic stoppage-time goal by Stella Adhiambo that handed them a 1-0 win over Vihiga Queens in the final played at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.

Kibera did so in an entertaining match against Vihiga Queens, whom they saw off 1-0.

Odhiambo dribbled past the Vihiga defence before slotting home the winner past goalkeeper Mercy Akoth in the 88th minute.

But it was a tale of missed chances for Kibera, who should have convincingly won the match in the first half.

Anna Arusi was the main culprit after missing three golden opportunities in the first two quarters of the first half.

Vihiga’s defence of Yvonne Muyoka, Alice Muderi, Ruth Khasoha, and Phanice Lwosi did a remarkable job until the dying minutes when they lost concentration.

“It’s was a tough match, but the best team won despite us losing lots of chances in the first half,” said Kibera head coach David Vijago.

Vihiga’s coach Boniface Nyamunyamu admitted having lost to a better side.

“On this one, they overpowered us, but we can plan for next season and improve on this performance,” he said.

He attributed the loss to many missed chances and fatigue on key players who were with the national team Harambee Starlets.

But on their part, Vihiga Queens returned the favour in equal measure in the second half but made no meaningful moves that could scare Kibera’s custodian Mercy Akoth.

Despite winning the title and Sh700,000 in prize money, Kibera also ran away with a number of individual accolades, which include the best goalkeeper’s title by Vivian Shionzo and Faith Mboya as the Most Valuable Player.

Diana Cherono of Vihiga Queens won the Golden Boot Award with four goals to her credit.
