Kenyan songstress Victoria Kimani has shared details of a brief studio encounter with American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, a moment she now views as divine protection.

Speaking candidly on the Mic Cheque Podcast, the “China Love” hitmaker recalled how, years ago, her music publishing deal led her to the studio of American producer Mario Winans, best known for the track I Don’t Wanna Know, which featured Diddy.

Through that connection, Kimani landed at Diddy’s house for what would become a short-lived collaboration. “I didn’t go to any freak-off. I only met him one time. Honestly, I didn’t hear anything,” she clarified.

She explained that her publisher frequently sent her to work with different artists. That’s how she found herself in sessions with Winans and eventually inside Diddy’s residence.

“So that’s how I ended up in Diddy’s house,” she said.

Kimani recalled writing two songs during the session, both of which received a positive nod from Combs. “He just walked in, listened to both the songs, shook my hand. He was like, ‘That’s fire,’ and then he left, and that was it,” she said of their only interaction.

Years later, as the embattled hip hop mogul faces mounting allegations of sexual assault and trafficking, including a lawsuit from his ex-partner Cassie Ventura, Kimani now sees that fleeting moment as a near miss.

“That was the first and last time I saw him. So the Holy Spirit was protecting me,” she reflected.

She added, “I mean also I don’t think I was his type. Let’s be very fair. I was not his type, plus he was with Cassie.”

Kimani was later asked to help coach Cassie on a track titled Bougie S, but missed the session due to heavy rains and lack of fare, something she now believes was spiritual intervention. “I think that was God protecting me though, honestly,” she said.
