BS Patel rolled back the years to clinch top honours at the July Mug of the Month Golf Tournament held at the Nyanza Golf Club in Kisumu.

He emerged the overall winner after carding an impressive 64 nett score.

The seasoned golfer, who has spent decades on the fairways, was thrilled with the victory, saying; “After so many years, it feels great to finally return to the podium. I’ve waited a long time for this, and I’m truly grateful.”

The tightly contested event saw Tom Agumbi finish as overall runner-up, also with a score of 64, while James Odongo claimed the second runner-up position with the same score, proving just how competitive the tournament was.

In Division One, Elizabeth Akinyi walked away with the winner’s prize after carding 67 nett, closely followed by Joseph Atito, who posted a score of 70. Division Two honours went to Lina Akelo who fired 66 nett, narrowly beating Paul Otieno who finished on 67.

In Division Three, Faith Nzomo won with a round of 65 nett while Vitalis Asewe came in as runner-up with the same score but lost on countback.

Jiten Pabari was crowned the “July Baby” category winner with a score of 66, while Nishal Shah came second after scoring 69. Guest winner V. Amusala shot 63 nett to emerge top among visitors, with A. Karanja finishing second on 66.

Among the junior golfers, Vincent Odhiambo stood out with a brilliant round of 60 nett, ahead of Joseph Chege who scored 61 and Faraja Mulunda on 63. Their performance was widely praised as a positive sign for the future of golf in the region. Odhiambo also received recognition as the overall junior winner during the main prize ceremony.

Ojwang Lusi won the men’s longest drive, while Lina Akelo showed versatility by also winning the ladies’ longest drive title. Joseph Ogweche was nearest to the pin, and Keziah Akinyi received the Best Effort award.

The ball pool prizes went to Peter Yongo for the 4th hole and Lydia Selestine for the 13th, each receiving a pack of golf balls.
