Sofiya Nzau is making history as the first Kenyan artist to perform at the globally renowned Tomorrowland festival in Belgium.

The Mwaki hitmaker is set to share the stage with international EDM heavyweight Steve Aoki in what marks a significant milestone for both her career and the visibility of African artists in global electronic music circles.

Her Tomorrowland debut comes during her maiden European tour, which has seen her perform in major cities across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain, and France.

“This has been an amazing experience and a life-changing moment for me to perform for my fans in Europe. This is where my music is mostly listened to, and feeling that love in person has been truly humbling,” Sofiya said, speaking ahead of her next performance in Germany.

The tour kicked off on 13 July 2025 with a sold-out show at Amsterdam’s Thuishaven.

Her performance, a fusion of African-rooted vocals and electronic soundscapes, resonated with an audience already familiar with her sound online.

She later took the stage at Club Panache in Enschede, drawing an overwhelming crowd that reaffirmed her growing popularity in the European electronic scene.

Germany has proven to be a stronghold for Sofiya, where she boasts her largest audience on Spotify. Her recent collaboration with German producer Avaion, Wacuka, has already surpassed 60 million streams.

She is also slated to perform at the sold-out Open Beatz Festival, which is expected to attract more than 15,000 fans.

Beyond the stage, Sofiya has been busy in the studio, collaborating with top European producers including Arjen Thonen, Sergio Popken, and Tommy Deckers. She also participated in the Lab of Tomorrow; Tomorrowland’s exclusive songwriting camp.

Sofiya’s breakthrough came with Mwaki, a viral hit that blends Kikuyu vocals with sleek electronic production.

The song has now surpassed 300 million streams on Spotify, catapulting her onto the global stage.
