A heavy wave of sorrow swept through Uphome Funeral Home in Nyambari as mourners gathered for the emotional body viewing of the late comedian Zacharia Kariuki alias KK Mwenyewe.

The atmosphere was marked by tears, silence, and visible heartbreak, as family, friends, and fans struggled to come to terms with the loss of a man whose humour once brought joy to countless lives.

The late comedian’s body lay peacefully in a black casket, surrounded by mourners overcome by grief. In one of the many emotional moments that defined the sombre day, a woman believed to be a close relative broke down at the sight of the body and had to be carried out after collapsing.

Several others were seen crying uncontrollably, with reports of fainting as the pain of losing someone so beloved proved too much to bear.

Uniformed attendants in yellow-striped green reflector jackets were on the ground, helping manage the crowd as emotions ran high. Despite their efforts, the viewing room was filled with sobs, gasps, and stunned silence as those present confronted the reality of KK’s passing.

The viral footage from the event sparked a national outpouring of emotion. Kenyans online expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the grieving family, many still shocked by the comedian’s sudden demise.

“Hii inauma aki,” said another.

“RIP KK,” echoed a third, reflecting the collective heartbreak felt by many.

KK Mwenyewe, who rose to prominence through his comedic skits and online content, was praised for his relatable humour, humility, and down-to-earth personality.

His content resonated with everyday Kenyans, turning him into a household name and an inspiration for young, aspiring creatives.

The viewing comes ahead of KK Mwenyewe’s burial at his rural home in Githirioni, Githaithi Village, where a funeral service will be held. Hundreds are expected to attend, with the community preparing to lay to rest a young life gone too soon.
