Former Second Lady Pastor Dorcas Gachagua has come out swinging against claims made by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah that she controls her husband, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

In a fiery yet humorous address during a public event in the United States, Pastor Dorcas dismissed the remarks as not only false but ridiculous.

The former DP’s wife strongly defended their close public partnership, which has seen them attend events side by side, saying it is rooted in love and mutual respect not control.

“There is nothing wrong with my husband being with me and I with him,” she told the crowd, drawing laughter. “I hear that I sit on him. How can you sit on a man like this? A man who is causing the whole nation not to sleep? The president, the deputy, the MPs—everyone is always talking about Wamunyoro. Is that a man you think can be controlled? You’re such liars!”

Her remarks come amid growing political chatter back home, where the Kikuyu lawmaker accused her of wielding undue influence over her husband’s decisions and appearances.

Pastor Dorcas, however, brushed off such narratives, insisting she will not be cowed into retreating from her role as a steadfast partner.

“I will not stop loving my husband, I will not stop supporting my husband, I will not stop praying for my husband,” she declared. “I will be a pillar for him. I believe in his vision. I believe in his dreams. He speaks the truth—and I’m a preacher of the truth. Because the Jesus we preach is the way, the truth, and the life.”

The Gachaguas are currently in the United States, where the former Deputy President is on an official tour to promote his Democracy for Citizens Party  (DCP), meet diaspora supporters, and advance his political message ahead of the 2027 polls.

Ichung’wah and Gachagua have publicly clashed in recent months, with tensions escalating after Gachagua’s impeachment in October 2024.
