Nakuru RFC have ushered in a new chapter ahead of the 2025-2026 Kenya Cup season with the signing of promising forward Cyprian Ombaso from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) RFC.

The talented player, known for his physicality and work rate, joins Wanyore at a time when optimism is high following the unveiling of the club’s new Smart-branded jersey.

Ombaso said the move marks an important step in his rugby journey.

“Playing for Nakuru RFC is a dream come true. My time at MMUST taught me discipline, resilience, and teamwork, and I’m ready to bring those lessons here. My goal is to contribute to the team’s success and help us push for a strong finish this season,” he said.

The forward also expressed excitement about the new partnership between Nakuru RFC and Smart Applications International, which has ended the club’s long spell of playing in non-branded jerseys.

“This partnership is special because it’s more than just about a kit. It’s about pride and identity. Wearing a jersey that represents both our club and our community will renew our bond with the fans,” Ombaso said.

“At Smart, this partnership is about more than visibility; it’s about values,” said Isaiah Mosiori, CEO, Smart Applications International Limited, Kenya.

“Nakuru RFC reflects the resilience, teamwork, and integrity we champion as a business. We’re proud to walk alongside them, not just as sponsors, but as partners in progress.”

Nakuru RFC chairman Aggrey Omiyo welcomed both the new signing and the strengthened partnership, calling it a game changer.

“This is a spirit for community that will bind us together. I call on the players and fans to double their efforts this season and make Nakuru proud,” he said.
