Accountant Bonnie Kamau who won Sh424.6 million SportPesa Mega Jackpot. [Sportpesa]

After a decade of trial and error, Bonnie Kamau, an accountant, has finally cashed out the biggest payout of Sh424.6 million SportPesa Mega Jackpot.

The jackpot is the latest and largest payout by the Betting Company SportPesa. This amount, which is more than the equivalent allocated to fund the upgrade of health facilities in Nairobi City County doesn’t faze Mr Kamau.

So how could Kamau spend the windfall? Here are a few ideas:

Residential palace: Kamau can shop for a Karen or Muthaiga mansion worth more than Sh200 million, complete with a swimming pool and other luxuries, throw in a holiday villa in Diani or a mountain retreat in Nanyuki.

Ride like royalty: A 2024 Range Rover Vogue worth Sh35 million, Sh40 million Mercedes-Benz S-Class A, and a Ferrari or Lamborghini for weekend cruising. He could have a car for every day of the week, plus a humble Toyota Probox for “undercover” errands.

Become the boss: He could start a chain of rental apartments and live off rent, or an international fast-food franchise. Logistics company? Tech start-up? The possibilities are endless for the accountant.

Give back like a king: He may set up a scholarship fund for kids from disadvantaged backgrounds, build a library in his hometown, or even sponsor a local football team.

Travel the world: He could spend Sh30 million circling the globe — sipping champagne in the Maldives, taking selfies in Times Square, watching Formula 1 in Monaco, and maybe even riding a camel in Dubai.

Lock in the future:  From government bonds to the Nairobi Securities Exchange, Kamau could stash millions into safe investments and still live large on the interest.

Fun facts: At current prices, his win could buy 1.4 million plates of nyama choma, over 21,000 iPhone 15 Pro Max phones, or enough petrol to fuel a Toyota Prado for 2,000 years. He could buy 121,332 bottles of good quality wine, consume one each weekend for 2,300 years.
