Five opposition senators have told President William Ruto to drop  his bid to woo Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka into his government.

Senators Joe Nyotu (Murang’a), Enoch Wambua (Kitui), John Kinyua (Laikipia), John Methu (Nyandarua) and Karungo Thangwa (Kiambu) said the opposition’s train had left the station, with their sole focus being to remove President Ruto from power in 2027.

Speaking at Kyondoni Primary School in Kitui County during Senator Wambua’s declaration of interest for Kitui gubernatorial seat, the leaders vowed that Kalonzo would remain firmly in the opposition. “Kalonzo is not joining your government at any one given time. And I speak with the blessing of the party leader,” Wambua said.

He accused the President of failing Kenyans, presiding over an administration that had abducted and killed youth.

Senator Nyotu said a united opposition would send Ruto packing, arguing that the President had lost legitimacy to lead the country. “We don’t hate Ruto but we hate his bad manners. If we unite, we shall take him home,” he said.

Senator Methu described Ruto’s administration as a disappointment to Kenyans.

Curiously, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna tore into Ruto’s administration despite his party having a working formula with the Kenya Kwanza government.

Sifuna warned that under President Ruto, county governments were on the brink of collapse due to delayed funds. “Ruto is the greatest threat to devolution. The biggest problem in Kenya today is at State House, and we must change it,” Sifuna said.
