President William Ruto has nominated and redeployed several envoys in a shake-up of Kenya’s Foreign Service.
“In an Executive action, the President has realigned the country’s Foreign Service to optimise performance and enhance service delivery,” State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said in a statement.
The changes affect several career diplomats, including career diplomat Ambassador George Orina, Kenya’s envoy to Ethiopia, who has been reassigned to Dublin, Ireland.
Orina will be replaced in Addis Ababa by Ambassador Galma Boru.

Public Service Commission chairperson Antony Muchiri has been nominated as ambassador to Turkey, while Catherine Kirumba Karemu is set to become High Commissioner to Tanzania.
Former Labour Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore has been nominated as High Commissioner to Namibia.
Ambassador Maurice Odhiambo has been picked to serve in London, replacing Manoah Esipisu, whose term ended in 2024.
Other nominations include Joseph Musyoka to Saudi Arabia, Edwin Afande to Austria, Lucy Kiruthu to Thailand, and Abdirashid Salat Abdille to Indonesia.
The shake-up also covers consuls general and deputy heads of mission. Mohamed Ramadhan Ruwange, who was Kenya’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, has been transferred to Arusha, Tanzania as consul general.
Jayne Jepkorir has been nominated as Consul General to the United Arab Emirates, Judy Kiaria Nkumiri to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Ambassador Kipkosgei Toroitich has been nominated deputy head of mission to Uganda, while David Mwangi is set for the same role in South Korea.
All nominations have been forwarded to the National Assembly for vetting and approval.
