Acclaimed Indian actress Priyanka Chopra is in Kenya as she prepares to begin work on Globetrotter, the upcoming film by celebrated director SS Rajamouli.
The Heads of State star offered her fans a glimpse of her visit through a series of Instagram stories, beginning with an aerial view of the Maasai Mara’s lush greenery, followed by a video from her car ride through the reserve.
“The air is fresh, it’s beautiful,” she captioned, capturing her first impressions of Kenya’s iconic landscapes.
Chopra went on to document her encounters with wildlife, including a close-up video of a hyena, captioned “Hi friend,” as well as images of a buffalo, ostrich, and hippopotamus.
She also embraced local culture by sampling traditional Kenyan dishes such as ugali, fish and sukuma wiki, which she described enthusiastically: “Ugaliii loooove!!”
A serene breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast, and fresh juice also featured in her posts, paired with the caption, “Breakfast with a view.”
In one story, the actress referred to Kenya’s sweeping savannahs as the “Pride Lands,” a nod to the Disney classic The Lion King.
The film’s landscapes were famously inspired by real locations, including the Maasai Mara National Reserve and Hell’s Gate National Park, further tying Chopra’s Kenyan experience to the global imagination.
Her trip, however, is not only about leisure.
According to Times of India, Chopra has joined her co-star Mahesh Babu in Nairobi for the filming of Globetrotter, described as a major action-adventure set in Africa.
The production marks her return to the Indian film industry and underscores Kenya’s rising appeal as a location for international filmmakers.
Kenyans on social media welcomed the actress warmly.
Instagram user Joy Muthoni wrote: “Welcome to Kenya Priyanka!!” Another, Johnstone, joked: “Amesema hawezi choprice labda ugali.”
Meanwhile, another user remarked: “My long-time Crush… Aki Indian Movies.”
