Grammy-winning rapper Lil Nas X has spoken publicly for the first time following his arrest in Los Angeles over the weekend, an incident that left fans both stunned and concerned.

After several days of silence, the Old Town Road hitmaker posted a short update on Instagram Stories.

“That was a terrifying four days but your girl is going to be alright,” he wrote to his 14 million followers.

The message quickly went viral, sparking the hashtags #FreeLilNasX and #PrayForNas across X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok.

Reactions online reflected a mix of disbelief and empathy.

Many fans pointed to the pressures of fame, while others urged compassion and greater mental health support for artists.

“Lil Nas X has given us so much joy through his music and authenticity,” one fan wrote. “I hope he gets the help and love he deserves.”

According to court documents, the 26-year-old—real name Montero Hill—was charged on August 25 with four felonies: three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.

The incident unfolded on Ventura Boulevard, where bystanders filmed the rapper walking in just white underwear and cowboy boots. Witnesses said he appeared disoriented and repeatedly asked strangers if they were “coming to the party.”

LAPD said officers were called after concerned reports from the public. When approached, the rapper allegedly “charged” at officers, leading to his arrest. Police later said he was taken to hospital for what they described as a possible overdose before being booked on the felony charges.

Lil Nas X is scheduled to be arraigned later this month in Los Angeles.

If convicted, he faces possible prison time, though legal experts note that first-time felony offenders, particularly high-profile figures, often negotiate plea deals or rehabilitation programs.

So far, his team has not issued any statement beyond his brief post.
