Kristin Cabot’s estranged husband, Andrew Cabot, has spoken out following the swirl of headlines around their split and her appearance at a Coldplay concert.
A spokesperson for the Privateer Rum CEO confirmed that the couple had privately and amicably separated several weeks before the Coldplay concert, where Kristin was caught on the jumbotron cuddling with her then-boss, Astronomer CEO Andy Byron.
“Their decision to divorce was already underway prior to that evening,” he told People, adding that he “hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they’ve always valued.”
The statement made clear that Andrew, who has two children from a previous marriage, will not be making further public comment.
He and Kristin have no kids.
Kristin officially filed for divorce in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on Aug. 13, according to court records obtained by NBC News. The next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 26 in the state’s 10th Circuit Court.
The Coldplay incident in Foxborough on July 15 became a viral moment after frontman Chris Martin spotted Kristin and Byron on the big screen.
“Either they’re having an affair or they’re just really shy,” Martin quipped as the pair awkwardly tried to dodge the cameras before Kristin left her seat.
The clip, captured by a concertgoer, quickly spread online, with social media users identifying the two executives and pointing out that both were married at the time.
The fallout was swift.
Kristin resigned from her role as Astronomer’s Chief People Officer just a week after the viral video surfaced.
The company later confirmed her departure to NBC News. Meanwhile, Byron also stepped down days earlier, with Astronomer’s board citing that he had “failed to meet the company’s standards of conduct.” Cofounder Pete DeJoy is serving as interim CEO while a search for Byron’s replacement continues.
