King Kaka has found himself on the receiving end of online fury after announcing his latest guest on his YouTube cooking show, Let Him Cook!

“Tonite is baad news with the one and only Karenzo_Nyamu,” King Kaka posted, referring to nominated senator Karen Nyamu. The announcement quickly lit up social media, with netizens accusing the rapper of hypocrisy and “selling out.”

Many critics pointed to King Kaka’s celebrated spoken word piece Wajinga Nyinyi; a six-minute, 58-second takedown of Kenyan politicians and their failures as evidence that the artist had abandoned the ideals that once defined his art.

“King Kaka wrote a 6 minutes 58 seconds spoken word calling us stupid only to go ahead and host one of the dumbest politicians around,” one angry user commented.

Another added: “How these people can share rooms with crooks & still talk to us about injustice is beyond me. You wrote Wajinga Nyinyi kutupasha venye sisi ni mafala, but still share a table with the same people you warned us about? Lol!”

The backlash did not stop there. Some users dismissed the rapper’s music altogether, with one quipping: “Thank God your music sucks, I’d have felt bad if this was someone I actually listen to.”

Others warned that King Kaka was drifting to “the other side” after previously hosting controversial figures like Swaleh Sonko and a city MCA.

But the Kaka Empire CEO has shrugged off the criticism. Speaking exclusively to TNX, the rapper defended his decision to host Nyamu and other politicians, insisting the show’s concept allows for all kinds of guests.

“I can host anyone; as a matter of fact, I have a surprise for you,” he said. “They also get to talk about normal stuff like ordinary folks, away from politics. It’s like any other show on YouTube. I’m not surprised by the noise on social media because people have different viewpoints on everything. But people also know I have an album coming up, and some will watch the show for the first time because of this. So I’m easy.”

The show, produced by Kaka Empire in collaboration with Bio Food Products Ltd and supported by Highlands Drinks Ltd and Ma Cuisine Ltd, features episodes highlighting food, culture, and personal storytelling.
