Residents of Masimba in Kajiado County are in shock after a local businessman went missing under mysterious circumstances, with his vehicle later discovered abandoned.
On Monday morning, locals stumbled upon a matatu, registration number KCF 089M, deserted along the road in Masimba town.
The vehicle, which the businessman reportedly used for transport hire services and often drove himself, had no occupant.
According to multiple sources, the man was last seen on Saturday night and is believed to have been attacked by armed assailants while on his way to Masimba town around midnight. His whereabouts remain unknown.
Independent accounts suggest that at least three gunshots were heard from the area between 12.00am and 1.00am, around the same time the vehicle was abandoned.
Witnesses further claimed the attackers may have used a Probox car during the incident, though it is unclear if it was involved in moving the businessman from the scene.
Police in Masimba declined to comment, referring the matter to Mashuuru Subcounty Police Commander Abdirahman Musa, who could not be reached by phone as his line remained switched off.
Local administrators also described the case as a mystery, with no details yet available on the businessman’s fate.
By Monday morning, curious residents had gathered at the site, with officers from the Administration Police Unit visiting the scene as investigations began.
Authorities were yet to issue an official statement on the incident by press time.
