Comedian Lenny Vybzz recalls moment he was arrested while filming skit

Kenyan comedian Lenny Vybzz has shared a throwback of the day he and his crew were arrested by police while shooting a comedy skit on September 10, 2025.

Posting on Instagram, Lenny narrated the incident through a series of photos and videos.

Dressed in a combat jacket, grey sweatshirt, and matching shorts, he posted a clip of himself handcuffed to another individual.

He revealed that upon arriving at the police station, they were thrown into a cell, where they could be seen making calls to friends and family for help.

True to his comic nature, Lenny joked about one friend’s choice of emergency contact, saying he called his pastor instead of relatives.

Quoting from the Bible (Acts 16:26), which tells the story of Paul and Silas being freed from jail, Lenny wrote, “Today marks one year ago when I was arrested with my crew. K. Kabindu alilimwa Kofi kilo moja. Hapa tumepoz tupigwe picha na evidence.”

“My friend Korir in red akapeana number ya pastor wao… Collo (Korir) alikuwa anaambia pastor wao atuombee milango ya gereza ifunguke. Tuliomba cha ukweli ata… Pastor anaulizwa mbona milango hazijafunguka. Nikaona imekuwa serious nikapigia cousin yangu who is an advocate. Akakuja tukaachiliwa,” he added.

The comedian said they spent about five hours in custody before being released.

The post sparked reactions from Kenyans online, with many weighing in on freedom of speech and policing in the country.

One fan joked, “Izi ni cell za wao ziko na tiles.” Another commented, “Aki poleni.”
