Mary Biketi, the partner of Cooperatives and MSMEs CS Wycliffe Oparanya, has set the record straight on claims that she was dumped and left broke.
Speaking through a Facebook live session, Biketi rubbished the gossip, saying she had been in South Africa for some time, only to return and find the same stories still circulating.
The rumors, which first gained traction on blogger Edgar Obare’s Instagram Q&A earlier this year, alleged that her car had been repossessed and that she had been forced to vacate her lavish home.
“Wakenya mna mambo sana. I have recently been in South Africa for quite some time, and upon coming back and hear people saying that my car was repossessed,” Biketi said, turning her camera to show the car she was driving, boasting of more and laughing off those speculating her downfall.
“Kwanza let me correct that because I have cars. What am I driving now mkisema nimenyanganywa gari, what is this? Ii inawakalia pikipiki ama TukTuk ambayo wengine wenu hata hamna,” she quipped, taking a jab at her critics.
The 32-year-old also addressed claims that she had been forced out of her Kileleshwa residence to cheaper areas like Syokimau or Mlolongo.
According to Biketi, Oparanya bought her a house long before he became a Cabinet Secretary.
“Ati naishi Syokimau… alininunulia nyumba ata before akuwe Cabinet Secretary,” she insisted.
Biketi maintained that she was living comfortably and urged her detractors to focus on paying their Hustler Fund loans instead of spreading falsehoods about her life.
“Wengine wenu mnafikiria nahangaika kama nyinyi, I am not suffering. Can you focus with what I am doing in Trans Nzoia? Instead of kuniambia maneno haistahili. Mimi naishi vizuri, sihangaiki kama nyinyi. Lipeni hustler fund ndio muniadress,” she said.
As expected, Kenyans on social media were divided. Some backed her, with Joy Wane writing, “You don’t owe us any explanation girl… enjoy your life.” Others, however, criticized the age gap in her relationship, with one user noting, “She is 32, he is 79… aki ladies.” Another, Jemeli, advised: “In some situations, it’s better to remain silent.”
