Rapper and activist Octopizzo has publicly endorsed Siaya Governor James Orengo to take over as ODM Party Leader, saying he is best suited to advance Raila Odinga’s reformist vision and preserve the movement’s legacy.

In a passionate post on X (formerly Twitter), the Kich Ka Liech songmaker hailed Orengo’s intellect, integrity, and deep grasp of institutional reforms; qualities he believes are crucial to steering ODM into its next chapter.

“James Orengo should be appointed as the Chairman of the ODM Party if the movement is to preserve its legacy and vitality. His leadership style and deep understanding of structural and institutional reforms make him the most capable of advancing Raila Odinga’s vision within the party,” Octopizzo wrote.

Shortly after his post, a follower corrected him, suggesting that “party leader”, not chairman, was the more fitting title for Orengo. Octopizzo quickly agreed, affirming the correction with a nod of approval.

The rapper added that Orengo’s political strength extends beyond county leadership and deserves a national platform.

“Governance at the county level doesn’t fully harness his political intellect and national influence. His strength lies in shaping policy, strategy, and reform at the party’s core… Making him the party leader should be a no-brainer,” he added.

Octopizzo also praised Orengo’s emotional tribute to the late Raila Odinga during his state funeral, calling it “the realest, hardest, and most genuine tribute to Jakom.”

His endorsement adds a voice to the growing debate over ODM’s future leadership.
