Grammy Award-winning rapper Meek Mill had an unexpected run-in with police on Halloween night in New York City after being briefly detained by NYPD officers outside a nightclub.
In a viral video that quickly made rounds on X (formerly Twitter), the “All Eyes on You” rapper can be seen standing next to a police car with his hands behind his back, surrounded by officers and fans.
One bystander can even be heard yelling, “Free Meek Milly!” as the tense scene unfolded.
According to TMZ, police responded to reports of a man allegedly carrying a firearm around 4 a.m. on Saturday. Officers stopped a vehicle matching the exact description provided — including the license plate number; with three men inside, one of whom was Meek Mill.
After searching the car, no firearm was found, and all three men were released without charges. This contradicts online rumors that the rapper had been arrested.
Shortly after, the 38-year-old rapper took to X to express frustration and embarrassment about the encounter:
“They just pulled me out the car and cuffed me in front of the whole club — embarrassed me in NYC! I’m not scared to go outside without a gun… they had guns in my face for no reason smh. I thought it was a prank.”
He later added,
“They tryna get me….”
