Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang and Chanelle Kittony marked their union with a splendid traditional wedding ceremony on Saturday, November 1, in Kitale.

The event was a dazzling display of elegance, vibrant colour, and cultural heritage, drawing a distinguished list of guests, including President William Ruto, who served as the Chief Guest.

In his address, President Ruto emphasized the vital role of family as the cornerstone of Kenyan society. He encouraged young people to value marriage and take up responsibility rather than shy away from it.

“I want to encourage all young people that it’s good to get married and build a family,” he said. “Many run away from responsibility and pretend it is fashionable — it’s not. Many young men want to enjoy life but avoid responsibility. That isn’t correct.”

The Head of State also lamented what he described as shallow modern relationships that often lack genuine commitment, urging the youth to pursue lasting partnerships founded on love and accountability.

“Let everybody be responsible. If you are man enough, you must also be responsible. The woman you love — marry her. Otherwise, stop wasting people’s time,” he said. “I say this as a parent because I’m a father of girls and boys alike. There’s nothing fashionable about being irresponsible.”

President Ruto congratulated the newlyweds and their families, commending the couple’s union.

“This is my first time meeting Chanelle, and I confirm she is indeed beautiful. Allan is a handsome young man — God has put these two together, and congratulations on your wedding,” he said.

Chanelle Kittony serves as the County Executive Member for Public Works, Roads, and Infrastructure in the Trans Nzoia County government.

She is the daughter of prominent businessman Kiprono Kittony, the Chairperson of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A host of dignitaries graced the ceremony alongside the President, including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Development Wycliffe Oparanya, former Health CS Susan Nakhumicha, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, Treasury PS Chris Kiptoo, and Immigration PS Belio Kipsang.

The couple previously held a similarly luxurious wedding in July 2025, also attended by high-profile guests.
