Luo Benga sensation Prince Indah has officially released his much-anticipated sixth studio album, Timeless Anthems, a 16-track landmark project.

The album was unveiled on Saturday at a packed Nairobi event that doubled as a showcase for the country’s top musical talent.

Fans thronged the venue as heavyweights like Samidoh, Tony Nyadundo, Okello Max, Elisha Toto, and Madanje Perimeter lit up the stage with electrifying performances, setting the perfect mood for Indah’s moment.

Known for his lyrical depth and signature Ohangla sound, the artiste also took time to honor a key figure behind the album: veteran producer Teddy B.

Ahead of the launch, Indah praised the producer for his dedication.

“I’m deeply grateful to one amazing gentleman, one of the finest producers in Kenya and truly one of the most humble souls I’ve ever met. He’s been burning the midnight oil, pouring his heart and passion into every beat, to make sure that Timeless Anthems is not only worth the wait, but worth every moment you’ll spend listening. Thank you my brother @teddybproduce,” Indah wrote.

With six albums under his belt, Prince Indah continues to cement his place as one of Kenya’s most influential contemporary musicians—consistently balancing tradition with fresh, modern flair.

Luo Benga sensation Prince Indah, born Evance Ochieng Opiyo, is a celebrated Kenyan musician and composer who specialises in the Ohangla and Afro-Rhumba genres.

He is known for skillfully blending traditional Luo rhythms with fresh, contemporary sounds, which has earned him a prominent place in Kenya’s music industry.

Born in Murumba Village, Siaya County, his challenging early life shaped his resilience and dedication.

Indah’s journey into music began after he was forced to leave high school due to financial constraints following the death of his mother.

Determined to find a path, he initially took on manual labour but spent his evenings observing Ohangla performances in nightclubs, developing a keen interest in the music.

This led him to join the Ramogi Ohangla Rhumba Band, which was led by his paternal uncle, the renowned Emma Jalamo.

He started his career in the band as a drummer and shaker, gradually proving his talent to become a backup singer and curtain raiser.

Working under the mentorship of the “King of Ohangla,” Emma Jalamo, he adopted the stage name Prince, signifying his place as a “son of the King,” which, combined with his local name Indah, created his stage identity.

He later established his own successful group, the Malaika Ohangla Rhumba Band, and launched his debut album in 2014, showcasing a talent that has since made him a contemporary musical force.
