Comedian and philanthropist Eric Omondi has once again lived up to his “Sisi kwa Sisi” mantra after building a new home and apartment block for a bedridden woman in Kamakis, bringing hope to her and her two sons.

Photos and videos shared online show Omondi personally supervised and participated in the building process.

“Our mum and her kids finally have a place to call home. We have built a house, eight apartments and a shop for them so that at least they can sustain themselves. Please keep supporting mum,” the comedian shared in an Instagram post.

The woman, Millicent Maina, has been bedridden for the past four years, battling multiple health conditions, including a blood disorder, asthma, ulcers, spinal complications, and a heart problem.

She relies entirely on her two young sons for care.

Touched by Millicent’s plight, Omondi and his team launched a nationwide fundraising drive that rallied support from across the country.

The funds were used to purchase land and begin construction of a new home for her.

The completed project, now named Mama Simo Apartments in Millicent’s honour, features eight rental units and a shop, providing her and her sons with both a safe home and a sustainable source of income.

Where did it start?

Earlier this year, actress Dorea Chege and her husband, DJ Dibul, shared a heartbreaking video showing Millicent lying helplessly in a cramped single-room house, as her sons took turns feeding her and changing her diaper.

In an emotional conversation with Dorea, Millicent revealed that she had lost all hope and had even contemplated taking her own life using insulin.

The story moved Kenyans deeply, prompting an outpouring of support from well-wishers.

Among those who stepped in was Eric Omondi, through his “Sisi kwa Sisi” initiative, a community program dedicated to helping vulnerable families.
