Kenya’s creative force is making waves on the continental stage once again, with several local creators earning nominations at the 2025 TikTok Awards Sub-Saharan Africa.

From educators to entertainers and social impact champions, the digital talent stands tall among the best the region has to offer.

The awards, set to take place on December 6 in Johannesburg, will bring together some of the most influential creators, artistes, and trendsetters in the digital sphere.

The event celebrates those who have turned short-form videos into powerful tools of storytelling, education, and cultural expression.

This year, Kenya boasts an impressive lineup of nominees across multiple categories.

Among them are @englishwithclem, who has built a following through insightful educational content and has earned nods in both the Creator of the Year and Education Creator of the Year categories.

Fellow educator @roy.kanyi is also nominated in the education category, recognised for his engaging and accessible learning content that resonates with young audiences.

Kenya’s voice in the Social Impact Creator of the Year category is particularly strong, represented by @valerie_keter, @anitasoina, and @tunero_animations each using their platforms to inspire change, raise awareness, and tell powerful local stories.

Meanwhile, @boyz_makekii gets a nod in the Food Creator of the Year category, highlighting Kenya’s culinary creativity, and @boxtoboxregista and @zozasportscast showcase Kenya’s growing sports content scene with their nominations for Sports Creator of the Year.

Boniswa Sidwaba, TikTok’s Head of Content Operations for Sub-Saharan Africa, said the awards are “a moment for reflection and celebration where we build deeper relationships with the people who power the continent.”

She added, “At its core, the TikTok Awards celebrate the vibrant community who continue to inspire creativity, build community and spread joy on the platform while turning their passions into prosperous careers.”

The 2025 edition highlights how African creators continue to redefine online influence where niche became mainstream and community became currency.

From viral dances to socially conscious storytelling, TikTok creators across the continent have proven that digital creativity can shape culture, inspire change, and build livelihoods.

The TikTok Awards are a annual celebration of the most impactful and inspiring creators across Sub-Saharan Africa.

This year’s event will highlight the extraordinary ways our creators have engaged, inspired, and connected communities on and off TikTok.
