Tanzanian rapper–turned–politician Mwana FA is back in government after President Samia Suluhu Hassan reappointed him as Deputy Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports in her latest Cabinet reshuffle.

The celebrated hip-hop star, real name Hamis Mwijuma, previously served in the same docket and has been a vocal supporter of President Samia.

He was elected on a CCM ticket as the MP for Muheza constituency, where he has maintained a strong grassroots presence.

Taking to his socials shortly after the announcement, Mwana FA expressed gratitude for being entrusted once again with steering one of the country’s most vibrant ministries.

Kazi Inaendelea.”

Mwana FA’s return comes as President Samia announced a major reorganisation of her administration, naming 27 ministers and 29 deputy ministers in a lineup that has stirred conversation across the region.

Among the most notable appointments is that of her daughter, Wamu Hafidh Ameir, who now serves as Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technology.

Wamu, 43, is the MP for Makunduchi Constituency in Zanzibar and retained her seat under the ruling CCM.

President Samia also tapped Ridhiwani Jakaya Kikwete, son of Tanzania’s fourth President, as the Minister of Public Service Management and Good Governance in the President’s Office.

 Ridhiwani, 46, represents Chalinze Constituency.

With political temperatures cooling and a refreshed Cabinet in place, President Samia appears to be tightening her inner circle and leaning on trusted hands.

Artistes who had campaigned and endorsed her candidacy continue to face backlash from fans with a number counting financial losses after their businesses were burned down by angry protesters.
