Tanzanian star Mbosso has returned with a new wave of emotion and musical chemistry in Pawa II, teaming up with two of East Africa’s heavyweights Sauti Sol’s Bien and Kenya’s own rap titan Khaligraph Jones.

Although only a lyric video is out so far, the release had already stirred excitement across the region, setting the stage for what could become another continental hit.

In the track, Mbosso compares love to an overwhelming force, an intoxicating energy that leaves him vulnerable yet deeply inspired.

The phrase “naishiwa pawa” (I’m losing power) becomes a metaphor for being disarmed by affection.

Bien adds warmth and soul, softening the song’s emotional edges, while Khaligraph brings intensity with a verse that blends confidence and admiration.

But many feel the collabo does not live to its billing. According to music critic Jay Classic, the remix might not outshine the original Pawa as  fans are already deeply attached to the original version.

“Bien is currently one of the most loved artists in Kenya, and Khaligraph Jones is the undisputed rap king with a massive loyal fanbase. By bringing these two on board,
Mbosso is strategically tapping into Kenya’s music market,” he says.

“I totally agree the remix may not even come close to beat the original song but it will increase more engagements between the two countries. It’s just an inter-fanbase strategy,” said Jimmy de Prince

The collaboration comes on the heels of the original Pawa, Mbosso’s June sensation that swept across East Africa.

The first version not only dominated streaming platforms but also became one of the most recognisable Bongo Flava love songs of its time.

The lyrics blend vulnerability with admiration, painting his lover as a source of strength and inspiration.

The original music video was shot in Iringa, Tanzania, Directed by Folex & Audio produced by S2Kizzy and has amassed close to 50 Million views on YouTube and is still the number one trending video.

The track comes from Mbosso’s Room Number 3 album.

This album is particularly significant as it marks his first major project as an independent artist since leaving Diamond Platnumz’s WCB Wasafi record label.

Mbosso has also worked on Pawa III featuring The Ben and Pawa IV featuring Darassa, Billnass & G Nako.
