Kenyan gospel singer Gloria A. Bulinda has officially returned to the music scene with her inspiring new single, Historia Njema, a song she describes as a divine message urging people to live lives that leave a positive mark.
She explains that the idea for the song came to her earlier this year in what she believes was a moment of spiritual direction.
“God put an idea in me; life is a book, life is a song. How do we read you? How do we sing you?” she says, reflecting on the message behind the lyrics.
While the words formed quickly, the melody came later in June during a recording session, when everything fell into place effortlessly.
She recalls the tune flowing naturally, giving her confidence that the song was meant to be shared.
Historia Njema continues the strong faith-driven themes that Gloria is known for, building on her earlier works such as Hatua kwa Hatua, Nafsi Yangu and Ubarikiwe.
She shares that Nafsi Yangu was inspired by the Psalms, while Ubarikiwe came from a deeply personal experience.
“Ubarikiwe came after going through a challenge… Tears rolled down my eyes as I sang those words,” she says, remembering the emotional moment that shaped the song.
After taking a year-long break from music, Gloria felt this was the right moment to return.
She believes that stepping back is sometimes necessary to reflect, regain strength and listen to God’s direction.
“I always wait to hear what God is saying and I felt it was the time,” she explains.
Through her new single she hopes to inspire people from all backgrounds to live honourably and become positive influences in society.
“Let’s leave a good mark in this life. Be a blessing, an encourager, a good example… Write a good history,” she encourages.
She adds that every person should aim to be “a good song that people can emulate.”
Fans of the gospel singer can expect even more from her in the coming months. She has already recorded six new tracks, including Sifa, her upcoming collaboration with gospel star Annastacia Mukabwa.
