East African music duo Vijana Barubaru aka V-BE has teamed up with singer Gogo Ashley to release Color, a tender new single that captures how the right person can transform life’s quietest moments into something bright and deeply felt.
Built on the idea that love can revive a weary soul, Color explores how the presence of one person can lift the weight off tired mornings and turn ordinary days into something warm and hopeful.
The song blends honesty with emotional storytelling, inviting listeners into a world where connection feels healing, grounding and quietly powerful.
The chorus “colour my days, colour my nights, colour away, take my Monday blues…” lands like both a plea and an admission.
It reflects the kind of affection that softens life’s storms and brings light back into spaces that once felt empty.
While romantic at its core, Color is also a song about renewal. Anyone who has ever met someone who feels like a sunrise after a long night will recognise themselves in its lyrics.
Performed by V-BE and Gogo Ashley, the single was written by Philip Munyao Mutuku and Dennis Njoroge Wambui.
The audio is produced by Denzel, co-produced, mixed and mastered by Run, with the visuals directed by The Black Jurist.
V-BE, made up of rapper and spoken-word artist Mwanaa and singer-songwriter-producer Tuku Kantu, continues to shape its identity as one of East Africa’s most reflective and soulful acts.
Formed in 2016 after meeting at an audition in Kikuyu, the duo went on to win DJ Pinye’s Dreams 2 Beats competition in 2018, a moment that cemented their partnership and set them on a path of purpose-driven music making.
They view music as a living archive, a way to preserve stories, emotions and the changing shape of society.
Their sound remains urban, poetic and soulful, inviting listeners to bring their own interpretations and experiences into each track.
V-BE’s fanbase has grown steadily, most notably after their hit single Sasa Hivi in 2022, which earned widespread acclaim across East Africa.
With this new project, V-BE and Gogo Ashley offer yet another piece of art that honours connection, vulnerability and the quiet magic of finding someone who paints life in brighter shades
