Maurice Ogeta, the longtime bodyguard of the late opposition leader Raila Odinga, introduced his fiancée, Ann Ogeta, to the public during a colourful and emotionally charged gathering at his rural home in Uyoma, Siaya County.
“When Ogeta was invited to speak, he did so with humility and emotion. He first walked toward his step-mother, embracing her as she stood supported by a walking stick, before addressing the guests,” observers noted.
“For our guests, this is my remaining mum. I was told my dad had—I think—seven wives. She was wife number three,” Ogeta said, acknowledging his family with warmth.

He then turned to his fiancée, Ann, a light-skinned lady dressed in a black dress and pink jacket, and proudly added, “and then, here is my madam … I think with that, that’s self-explanatory.”
The crowd erupted in applause, celebrating the moment Ann was officially welcomed into the Ogeta family.
Ogeta’s eldest sister led a touching segment of the ceremony, introducing family members one by one with gentle taps and applause.
She also formally presented Ann to the guests and the public, marking a new chapter in the Ogeta family’s story.
The event drew family, close friends, political allies, and residents, blending traditional elements with modern celebration to create a vibrant and joyful atmosphere.
Prominent figures including Roots Party of Kenya leader George Wajackoyah, former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, and political enthusiast Nuru Okanga attended, showing Ogeta’s wide social and political connections.
The gathering also marked a symbolic return to public life for Ogeta, who had been in mourning following the death of his former boss.
Raila Odinga passed away on Wednesday, October 15, and was laid to rest on Sunday, October 19—a loss that deeply affected those close to him, including Ogeta.
