Gospel musician Emmy Kosgei performed at the New Year crossover concert held at Eldoret Sports Club on New Year’s Eve, an event attended by President William Ruto, First Lady Rachel Ruto, government officials, church leaders, and thousands of worshippers.
Kosgei, who has maintained a low profile in recent years, performed a selection of her well-known gospel songs, which kept the crowd engaged as they counted down to 2026.
The concert combined music, worship, and community celebration, marking the country’s first major New Year gathering with Ruto in attendance.
In earlier photos shared by the President’s team, the Ategisin hitmaker was spotted among guests at the Eldoret State Lodge, where the President held a crossover dinner and delivered an address.
For the occasion, Kosgei wore a traditional Kalenjin-inspired beaded outfit paired with makeup and a red dress, blending cultural heritage with festive style.
Her ensemble drew attention from attendees and on social media, highlighting her presence on the night.
Emmy Kosgei rose to fame in the early 2000s and is known for her gospel music that mixes traditional Kenyan rhythms with contemporary sounds.
She is best known for songs such as Taunet Nelel, Kaswech, and Katau Banda, and has performed at major national events, including the 2010 promulgation of the Constitution.
Born on 22 July 1980 in Kelelwa village, Baringo County, Kosgei began singing in church at a young age and later joined music groups in high school.
Over the years, she has also ventured into fashion, running her own label and frequently showcasing designs that combine cultural elements with modern styles.
In addition to her music and fashion work, Kosgei is involved in philanthropy through Hope Academy, a school she founded to provide education and support for vulnerable children.
Her appearance in Eldoret was widely shared on social media, with some noting her appearance.
