In Kenya, the New Year heralded a fresh chapter not just for ordinary citizens but also for the country’s stars. From musicians to actors, comedians to digital creators, Kenyan celebrities have always had their eyes set on bigger dreams, and 2026 promises to be no different.

For many, the New Year is more than a date on a calendar; it is an opportunity to pause, reflect, and recalibrate. This year, the trend among celebrities’ leans heavily on personal growth, spirituality, family, and professional milestones. Their resolutions reveal a common thread: the pursuit of happiness, purpose, and impact, both on and off-screen.

Salvation for Dorea Chege, Jackie Matubia

For renowned actress Dorea Chege, best known for her role as Maggie on Swahili telenovela Maria, 2026 began with a deeply spiritual turning point. On December 11, 2025, she publicly surrendered her life to Jesus Christ, an event she describes as life-altering. For Dorea, faith has become more than a personal refuge; it is now a platform to inspire others.

“I’m celebrating another year of life, and I’m thinking about how much God has done for me. When I gave my life to Jesus on Dec 11, 2025, I found a new purpose, peace, and joy that’s contagious,” she shared on Instagram.

She added, “It’s been a journey with challenges and victories, but God’s been with me every step. Now, I’m praying He uses me to touch lives, spread hope, and show love. Huge thanks to @dominicthuku & @purity_thuku for leading me to Christ. May the good Lord bless you.”

Similarly, Jackie Matubia, the Tahidi High and Family Vacation actress, has embraced a new chapter of faith after a challenging 2025 marked by the loss of her stepfather. Jackie revealed that she is now officially born again, using her platform to share messages of hope and redemption.

“Them: You look happier and peaceful. Me: Yes, Jesus took me out of the darkest place and in 2026 I choose to praise His gospel and tell my story,” she wrote on Instagram.

She continued, “Hey, my name is Jackie Matubia, and above all, I am born again in Christ Jesus, redeemed by His grace, and I walk by faith. I stand here today because I am a living testimony of what the Lord can do!”

Donned in modest attire, she has spent the past few days posting Bible verses and gospel messages, signaling her commitment to making 2026 a year of spiritual and personal growth.

Even media personality Janet Mbugua shared a reflective post on January 1, 2026. Posing with her two young sons, she expressed the aspirations she has for herself and her family:

“Walking into the new year with these two, (hopefully) a little wiser, a lot more intentional, and very clear about what I want our days to feel like. Wishing you all a year of presence, protection, and purpose, in whatever form that takes for you.”

For these celebrities, faith, family, and intentionality are intertwined, setting the tone for a year of renewed focus.
