Bongo Flava songstress Zuchu has sent the internet into a frenzy after pulling off a deeply emotional and luxurious surprise for her mother, veteran Taarab singer Khadija Kopa a brand new black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado TX complete with customised number plates boldly branded ‘KOPA’.
The sleek SUV was delivered to Khadija Kopa’s home amid joy, ululations and tears, as close family members gathered to witness what many fans are calling one of the most touching celebrity moments of the year.
The personalised number plates instantly caught the eye, turning the Prado into a rolling tribute to the celebrated singer and matriarch.
The surprise delivery, captured on video and shared across Zuchu’s social media platforms, quickly went viral, drawing praise from fans, fellow artistes and public figures across East Africa.
According to the Sukari hitmaker, the gift was the fulfilment of a long-held promise to her mother.
“My mum used to say she wanted a Prado; a big car—and now here it is,” Zuchu explained in the video. “I’ve been working towards it for a while. Last year, I decided that I must buy her a car. I kept postponing it, then one day I told myself it’s not good to keep pushing such things to a later date.”
Zuchu candidly admitted she knows little about cars and relied heavily on trusted advice to get everything right—from the model and colour to the delivery itself.
“I was advised on which car to pick and even the colour because I don’t know anything about cars. I asked them to handle everything, including the delivery. I just wanted to surprise her,” she said.
Alongside the video, Zuchu poured her heart out in a deeply personal Swahili message, reflecting on the emotional weight of the milestone. Translated to English, her message reads:
“Yesterday was one of the most beautiful days of my life because I fulfilled one of my goals; buying my mother the car of her dreams. Truly, for me as a hardworking daughter, this is not a small thing. There is no happiness in this world like seeing your mother happy; it’s a feeling I cannot fully describe in words. Alhamdulillah.
“I pray for all children with parents that God grants us the opportunity to also fulfil our parents’ dreams. Amen.”
Zuchu also took time to appreciate her partner, Diamond Platnumz, acknowledging his behind-the-scenes support in her journey.
“I sincerely thank my husband, who plays a big role in every dream of mine and never leaves me to walk alone. May God reward you for your good heart and continue increasing you as you give. Amen,” she wrote, tagging Diamond Platnumz.
“Special thanks to Troni Motors. I sent them money without even knowing where their offices are, but you were honest. You chose the car exactly as I explained and delivered the surprise in a very big way. It’s enough to say that yesterday the Queen did not sleep because of happiness,” she wrote.
She also gave a shout-out to one of the individuals involved in the surprise, praising his dedication and work ethic.
Perhaps the most emotional detail was the personalised message written on the driver’s-side window of the Prado. It read:
“You are my heaven on earth. I love you so much, Mum.”
