David Beckham’s son Brooklyn claims parents are manipulative, controlling in emotional post

Brooklyn Beckham has publicly accused his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, of years of manipulation and attempts to undermine his marriage to actress Nicola Peltz.

In a rare and emotionally charged statement, the 26-year-old said he was breaking his silence after what he described as repeated leaks and false narratives about his life being fed to the media by those close to his parents, according to DailyMail.

Rejecting claims that he is being controlled by his wife, Brooklyn insisted the decision to speak out was his alone, saying he had stayed quiet for years to protect his family’s privacy but could no longer do so.

“I’m not being controlled,” he stated. “I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

He accused his parents of carefully managing a public image that masked deep private tensions, alleging that misleading stories had long been planted in the press to preserve the Beckham brand.

“For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family,” he said, adding that he had witnessed “the lengths they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media… to preserve their own facade.”

While Brooklyn did not shy away from specifics, much of his statement centred on longstanding grievances around his 2022 wedding to Nicola, which he portrayed as a turning point in his relationship with his parents and siblings.

The fallout from the lavish $3.5 million ceremony at the Peltz family’s Palm Beach estate quickly became tabloid fodder, despite the event being featured in British Vogue and attended by A-list guests from fashion, sport and entertainment.

Almost immediately, rumours emerged of a rift between Nicola and Victoria Beckham, fuelled by reports of disagreements over the wedding dress after Nicola ultimately wore a Valentino gown rather than a Victoria Beckham design.

In the months and years that followed, Brooklyn increasingly distanced himself from his famous family, relocating permanently to the United States and noticeably missing key Beckham milestones, including major fashion shows and public celebrations.

He instead spent holidays and significant family moments with Nicola’s family, including her billionaire father, Nelson Peltz, a move widely interpreted as a shift in his centre of gravity away from the Beckham household.

David and Victoria Beckham have long projected a tightly controlled image of unity, regularly sharing nostalgic photos of their eldest son and emphasising family closeness as part of their global brand.

Brooklyn’s statement marks the first time that carefully maintained narrative has been publicly challenged from within, exposing fractures behind one of the most recognisable family brands in modern celebrity culture.
