Police are investigating the discovery of a decomposed body of a man floating in Mathare River, Nairobi.
The body was found on February 5, 2026, by residents who alerted the authorities.
Police said the man may have drowned or been killed elsewhere before the body ended up in the river.
The body was taken to the mortuary pending identification and an autopsy.
In Tharaka Nithi County, a middle-aged man was found dead on the roadside in the Kaanwa area, a few meters from Weru Market. Police reported that the man had injuries to his ear, face, and arm.
The motive behind the death is yet to be established. The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and further investigations.
Authorities in Embu recovered a human leg from Rupingazi River on February 4. Police said the leg was caught on a rock.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the remains.
In Kakamega County, a 60-year-old man, identified as Albert Andayi, drowned in Naruchira River in Eshiyenga village. Police said the circumstances of the drowning are not yet clear.

In Murang’a County, an 80-year-old man, John Maina Gitau, died in a fire in Githumu. The cause of the fire is yet to be established. The body was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy and further procedures.
