A Kenyan man living in Texas has been sentenced to prison for killing another truck driver following a road rage confrontation.
Joseph Nyandwaro was jailed for six years on February 6, 2026, after admitting responsibility for the fatal incident. The 41-year-old was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide at the Gloucester County Superior Court.
According to MSN, the crash occurred on June 22, 2025, along a New Jersey highway.
The victim, identified as Osman Aden, died on the spot after Nyandwaro rammed into his truck, forcing it into a concrete barrier.
“Nyandwaro repeatedly blocked Aden’s truck before deliberately ramming,” State Police and witnesses told investigators, according to the outlet.
Police and court records further revealed that a camera inside Nyandwaro’s truck captured the entire incident. The footage showed him hitting the other vehicle and laughing as he drove away.
“He did not stop to check on the victim but continued driving. He later tried to alter the appearance of his truck and conceal damage,” authorities said.
Law enforcement later tracked the vehicle using data from the trucking company and confirmed Nyandwaro was the registered driver.
During his arraignment, Nyandwaro reportedly admitted that he fled the scene after the crash as part of a plea agreement.
The six-year prison sentence was reached through a deal with prosecutors, who recommended the term in exchange for his guilty plea.
However, the agreement stipulates that he will not be eligible for early release based on good behaviour until he serves most of the sentence.
The case has since gone viral on social media, sparking mixed reactions from Kenyans.
Instagram user Real Cas wrote, “Atatoka kama tushapiga kura.”
Another user, Showy Luokid, added, “Ati we left home to change home.”
Tuchell commented, “The law requires us to drive safely. Imagine you were the victim.”
