Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke has underscored the need to urgently strengthen the capacity of public communication officers to keep pace with a fast-changing media and digital landscape.

Isaboke made the remarks while hosting a delegation from the Kenya School of Government (KSG), led by Director Humphrey Mokaya, during a courtesy call at the Ministry.

The meeting focused on enhancing the skills of Public Communication and Information Officers to enable clearer, consistent and professional communication of government programmes, policies and reforms to the public.

Discussions explored opportunities for targeted, hands-on training aligned with global best practices, modern storytelling techniques and emerging communication platforms, as the government seeks to improve public trust, service delivery and citizen engagement.

It was agreed that technical teams from the State Department and KSG will hold follow-up engagements to identify priority training gaps and co-develop practical programmes tailored to the evolving demands of public sector communication.

Also present was the State Department’s Director of Human Resource Management, Nancy Wachira.
