Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has officially swapped the county gavel for the gears of the automotive industry.
Known for the “never-say-die” spirit that saw her navigate multiple impeachments before her eventual ouster, Mwangaza has made a bold return to the public eye, behind the counter of a new spare parts shop in the heart of Meru.
Taking to her official Facebook page, the former Governor shared a series of vibrant photos showcasing her new venture located at Maku, Meru.
Dressed with her signature upbeat flair, Mwangaza issued a spirited call to the local community, specifically targeting the backbone of the region’s transport sector: the Boda Boda riders.
“Watu wa Boda nawaenzi. Come and promote Mama. Base ni Maku Meru,” she posted, punctuated with her characteristic energy.
“Market your hustle na utaenda mbali. #wiraniwira. Mama ni ?si??”
The hashtag #wiraniwira (Work is work) quickly gained traction, signalling her intent to rebrand after a tumultuous exit from elective office.
While some critics view the move as a significant shift from the heights of the Governor’s office, supporters have viewed it as a masterclass in political resilience and relatability.
Mwangaza has always leaned into her identity as a self-made woman, having previously built a media hub with Baite TV before her political ascent.
This transition into the spare parts business follows the High Court’s decision on March 14, 2025, which upheld the Senate’s decision to remove her from office.
Despite the legal setbacks, Mwangaza has remained a fixture in the local scene.
