Police are investigating the death of a man who was allegedly beaten by his siblings over a family cow in Cheplaskei village, Moiben, Uasin Gishu County.

Peter Kiprop, 35, died in hospital on February 19, 2026, after being assaulted by three brothers and a sister.

Police said the assailants also poured hot water on him.

“He sustained serious injuries before they put him to sleep. They woke up hours later, found him unconscious, and rushed him to hospital where he succumbed to the injuries,” police said.

The accused fled the scene, and efforts to trace and arrest them were ongoing as of Friday.

According to police, the dispute arose after the deceased borrowed a family cow from his mother to start an agrovet business. His siblings disagreed, prompting an argument that escalated into violence.

Peter Kiprop’s body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police added.

In a separate incident in Imbiakalo, Kakamega County, a man was found dead on the roadside. The deceased, identified as David Achienda, 32, had an unknown cause of death. Police moved his body to the mortuary for autopsy.

Locals reportedly attacked a man alleged to have been last seen with Achienda before he was rescued by police. During the incident, four houses belonging to the family were burned.

Elsewhere, in Kangema, Muranga County, a casual labourer at Aspendos Dairy Limited died after falling from the second floor of a block. The company said the incident occurred on February 7, 2026, in the production department and involved Brian Mwangi Nyambura, 21.

Nyambura fell from a lift designed to carry milk boxes in an ultra-heat treatment store after it developed a mechanical fault. He sustained injuries to both hands and legs and was taken to Murang’a Level Five Hospital, where he died on February 19, 2026.

Police visited the site and established that the hoist cable of the lift had failed. The lift has since been repaired and is functional.
