Footage of Mexican drug lord Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes’ final hours has emerged after he was killed on Sunday, February 22, in a US intelligence-aided Mexican military operation.
According to Al Jazeera, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (JNGC) leader was tracked to a property in the mountain town of Tapalpa, central-western Mexico, after a tip-off.

The video seen by TNX Africa shows the 59-year-old’s hideout as a luxurious two-storey villa with spacious rooms, modern finishes, and sleek furniture.
The kitchen was littered with take-out containers, spoiled vegetables, milk boxes, and water cartons.
A box with a bright red bow sat on the dining table, though its contents were not shown.
Religious items, including framed pictures of Mary, scented candles with images of Jesus Christ, and a handwritten Bible passage about trusting God in Spanish, were also on display.

Footage revealed burned cars outside the home after the raid. CNN reported that El Mencho tried to flee through the back garden but was met with heavy gunfire and died en route to the hospital by plane.
The operation followed an investigation into his close network, with US intelligence helping Mexican forces access a source who identified the hideout. Mexican Defence Secretary Ricardo Trevilla Trejo told CNN the tip came from a “trusted man” connected to one of El Mencho’s lovers.

After the lover left the country club home, Oseguera remained with his guards. Mexican special forces and the National Guard’s Special Immediate Reaction Force moved quickly, raiding the property within 24 hours.
Gang shooters opened fire, prompting the army to return fire, killing several suspected cartel members.

El Mencho and his closest associates fled to nearby cabins in the woods, where a second gunfight broke out. He was later found critically wounded and died.
Under Oseguera, the JNGC became a dominant force in methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking into the US.
