An art-inspired fashion showcase, “Painted Expressions,” brings together local and international creatives on Sunday, March 1, in Nairobi’s CBD, featuring designs that translate paintings into wearable fashion.

Sicilian artist Montanucci Salvatore, known for Mediterranean-inspired works that blend myth, symbolism, and architecture, will lead the showcase.

The collection will reflect architectural landscapes, terracotta tones, and gilded textures, merging European artistic traditions with contemporary African fashion aesthetics.

Drawing fashion designers, students, media representatives, and cultural practitioners, the event will provide an opportunity for attendees to explore the intersection of canvas and cloth, while giving students practical exposure to international art and design approaches.

Salvatore’s work has evolved from figurative intensity to serene architectural dreamscapes, forming the basis for the garments presented at the showcase.

The event also aims to foster collaboration between local creatives and international artists, encouraging experimentation in fashion design.

Organisers described the showcase as part of a broader effort to position Nairobi as a regional creative hub, while demonstrating the role of technical and vocational training in supporting the country’s creative economy.

The showcase is hosted by Delight Technical College, which said it seeks to combine creative excellence with hands-on learning and industry engagement.

The institution hopes the event will strengthen links between students, professionals, and cultural stakeholders, while highlighting innovative approaches in fashion and design education.
