North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was seen driving a 600mm nuclear-capable multiple rocket launcher in a viral video released by state media.
The footage, recorded on February 18, showed Kim moving through central Pyongyang as crowds cheered and waved.
He also showcased fifty carriers of the 600 mm rocket system, arranged in rows of seven in a square. Each four-axle transporter and launcher carries five rocket tubes, positioned strategically, as seen on Korean Central TV.
CNN described the weapon as among the most powerful of its kind. Following the display, Kim pledged on February 26 to expand North Korea’s nuclear arsenal. He later attended a major night-time military parade.
State media reported that around 14,000 soldiers marched through Kim Il Sung Square, performing the signature “goose-step” under bright floodlights.
Fighter jets roared overhead, enhancing the display of military strength.
Kim’s teenage daughter, often identified as Kim Ju Ae, stood prominently beside her father. While speculation continues that she may be groomed to lead the country, the major ruling party congress, held only once every five years, did not grant her any formal position or new title.
Social media users reacted to the display. Drew Moyo on Instagram wrote, “One thing is for sure, no one is invading his country anytime soon.”
Ju Ogban added, “Bro is literally saying, play around with them and find out.”
The show of force follows China’s September 2025 military parade in Beijing, marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
The event highlighted high-tech weapons never before seen publicly, including robot wolves, a 65-foot-long submarine drone, laser weapons, advanced missiles such as the DF-61 and DF-5C, and hypersonic missiles like the YJ-21 and DF-17, according to footage by Al Jazeera.
