Professor Hamo regrets cheating, says infidelity cost him money, career and peace

Kenyan comedian Herman Gakobo Kago, popularly known as Professor Hamo, has taken to social media to caution men against cheating on their partners.

In a candid post, Hamo attributed his personal and professional setbacks to infidelity, urging young people, especially men, to stay faithful.

“Guys, when I tell you the shortest way to poverty is when you cheat, when you mess up, the grace of God leaves. When I say these things sio sababu ya clicks, I don’t care about clicks,” he said.

Reflecting on his past controversy, he added that unfaithfulness affects every area of life, including business and finances.

“I went through it. There was a time even if I had great plans to do something, inaenda tu vibaya. It is because I cheated; it has happened to me.”

Kenyan comedian, Professor Hamo, has opened up on a very sensitive matter. The comedian has said that he is a living testimony of “Cheating on your partner is the shortest way to poverty”.

He also shared a pointed example, “Jiulize kwa nini biashara yako ilikuwa inaenda poa ukalala na huyo secretary, mambo ikaanza kukuharibikia. Wewe unajua ile siku ulienda hiyo team building huko Mombasa, ukalala na huyo dem wa HR kwa nini vitu zako zikaanza kuharibika? Ati biashara yako ilianguka juu ya uchumi? Sio uchumi, ni cheating.”

“It is spiritual. Nairobi hauekwi na doo, unawekwa na grace ya God. I lost so much. I am not afraid to admit these are my scars. Nawaambia mapema, musijipate kwa hiyo ngori pia,” he said.

Hamo rose to fame on the Churchill Show, a famed Kenyan comedy platform.

He had previously admitted to an affair with fellow comedian Jemutai, which produced two children and sparked public drama.

The scandal escalated when he was accused of being a deadbeat dad, a claim he denied, asserting that he supported his children through his wife.

During this period, Hamo reportedly suffered financial strain and even job loss at a radio station in 2021 as his brand and popularity continued to plummet.

In later reflections, Hamo admitted that greed led to the affair, adding that he has since focused on co-parenting.
