Dancehall star Vybz Kartel has issued a strong warning on an Instagram post, distancing himself from claims that he will embark on an East African tour in May 2026.

He alerted fans that a circulating announcement promoting shows in the region is false and unauthorized, urging the public not to send money or engage with individuals advertising the alleged concerts.

In the message, Kartel emphasized that neither he nor his management team has announced or confirmed any East African performances, raising concerns that the promotion may be part of a scam targeting excited fans.

In the lengthy statement shared on his official Instagram page, the dancehall icon said the rumors had come to his attention after a post began circulating online claiming he would tour East Africa later this year.

Kartel quickly moved to shut down the speculation, stressing that he and his management have no knowledge of such plans.

“Let me be absolutely clear: neither my management nor I have any knowledge of, or involvement in, any such tour,” the statement read in part. “No East African shows have been announced or confirmed by my team.”

The musician warned that any promoters, platforms, or individuals claiming to book the supposed concerts are acting without authorization and are misleading the public. He further cautioned fans and venues to avoid engaging with anyone making such claims, noting that they could potentially be scams designed to exploit fans.

Kartel also clarified that all official information about his tours and appearances will only come from his verified platforms or authorized representatives.

He named his manager, Linton T.J. White, and his attorney, Jason Mitchell, as the only individuals permitted to speak or act on his behalf regarding bookings and official engagements.

This comes barely days after The announcement was made during a press conference in Nairobi, where members of the media, cultural stakeholders and creative industry leaders gathered for the unveiling of the new festival platform.

Organisers described the festival as a cross-border platform aimed at celebrating the region’s music, fashion, cuisine and artistic expression, while positioning East Africa as a growing force in the global live entertainment industry.
