A viral video of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju groaning in pain at Karen Police Station has gone viral, quickly turning into a meme on social media.
In footage seen by TNX Africa, Tuju is seated at an angle, appearing visibly uncomfortable as he clutches his stomach.
He groans in pain, briefly turning his head toward the camera before looking away.
As his cries continue, a voice in the background is heard saying, “You will not die.” Tuju is heard murmuring, “Aishi milele, wameniua.”
The clip ends with him slowly leaning onto the armrest, still in distress. The incident took place at Karen Police Station shortly after his arrest.
The video surfaced shortly after Tuju re-emerged following a day-long disappearance, saying he had sought refuge at an undisclosed location due to credible threats to his safety.

In a statement on Monday, March 23, he said the ordeal began on Friday evening when he noticed suspicious vehicles trailing him through Nairobi. He reported the matter at Karen Police Station.
By Saturday, the same vehicle, now without number plates, allegedly reappeared as he headed to a radio interview at Ramogi FM.
“I noticed I was being followed before and reported it to the authorities. On Saturday, as I was going for an interview at Ramogi FM, I noticed the same vehicle from before following me, only this time without plate numbers. Fortunately, I know Karen well and branched into Nandi Road, lost the tail, and abandoned my car,” he said.
Fearing for his life, Tuju said he used his knowledge of the area to evade the vehicle before abandoning his car and going off the grid. He later took refuge in a private home on the outskirts of the city until he felt safe enough to resurface.
He also said he avoided police stations, suspecting the individuals trailing him could be linked to security agencies.
His disappearance had raised alarm after his family reported him missing on Sunday when his phone went off and his whereabouts became unknown.
Following the circulation of the video and the worsening of his health condition, Tuju is said to have been rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at Karen Hospital.
Kenyans online reacted with a mix of concern and scepticism.
Vic Kithoka wrote on X, “This script is very familiar and very wrongly & poorly stage managed. Bure sana.”
Patrick Kinyua added, “When did Kenya Police become debt collectors or court bailiffs?”
Another user, J Kamau, said, “Debts have led some people to their death beds. We should understand our fellow Kenyans when they are under distress.”
