Tel Aviv’s sky turned rather eerie on Tuesday as thousands of crows swirled in massive flocks around high-rise landmarks like the Azrieli Towers, according to the Daily Mail.
In a video that has now gone viral, shows the birds freely roaming the skies in huge numbers igniting online frenzy.
With many viewers dubbing the spectacle as a “harbinger of doom,” tying it to Israel’s/US escalating conflict with Iran and ancient prophecies.
Social media has since erupted with rather sinister interpretations. One X user warned, “This is considered by many to be a ‘harbinger of doom’ as it is often followed by total catastrophe,” invoking Revelation 19:17 from the Bible.
This specific verse depicts an angel summoning birds to “the great supper of God.” Other netizens compared the phenomenon to Roman augurs, who read bird flights as divine omens that stopped wars, or the Tower of London’s ravens, whose departure legendarily spells Britain’s fall.
The dark, shifting clouds of crows left residents stunned, especially amid the war that has entered its fourth week, reportedly leaving over 2,000 dead.
More than 1,200 deaths occurred in Iran from Israeli and U.S. strikes (per the Iranian Red Crescent), 1,000 in Lebanon, 17 in Israel, and 13 U.S. service members, plus two from noncombat causes.
Bird experts have dismissed supernatural claims arguing that Israel lies on a premier global flyway, hosting 500 million migrating birds yearly during spring.
So hooded crows, abundant locally, often mass in urban areas like Tel Aviv for nesting, more often driven by seasonal shifts, weather, or disturbances.
“This is routine migration, not a sign,” one ornithologist noted, highlighting similar March sightings.
It just so happened that he flock’s timing coincided with the war.
According to NBC, Trump has claimed ongoing Iran talks, but Tehran has come forth to dispute progress, confirming only indirect messages via intermediaries.
