A 29-year-old Miami woman, Denisha Delancy, saw her birthday vacation in Sint Maarten turn tragic after she was killed in what authorities believe was a targeted attack.
According to Atlanta Black Star, Delancy had travelled with her sister and friends from Liberty City to celebrate, spending their first days enjoying beaches, day parties and nightlife on the Dutch Caribbean island.
The group stayed at a private Airbnb and used arranged transport. After a night out at White Rabbit nightclub, they met Quincy Damon Sylvester.
Sylvester, a Sint Maarten businessman of Trinidadian descent, is alleged to have owned a PVC pipe company on Welgelegen Road that investigators suspect was a front linked to organised crime.

Described as friendly, he offered the group a ride home. Delancy’s sister and a friend were dropped off safely, but Delancy chose to continue socialising with him.
Concern grew when she failed to return. Their driver later reported Sylvester’s vehicle had been involved in a crash along Arlet Peters Road, also known as Old Cake House Road.
The incident was initially treated as an accident until bullet wounds were discovered in the overturned car.
Both Sylvester and Delancy died in what authorities now suspect was a targeted ambush. Surveillance footage later showed suspects tracking Sylvester throughout the night, reinforcing the theory of a hit linked to alleged criminal ties.
Delancy is believed to have been caught in the crossfire, as residents raise concern over rising gang violence on the island.
Her body was returned to Miami via Grand Home Going LLC, prompting an outpouring of online reactions, with many describing the tragedy as a case of “wrong place, wrong time.”
Experts continue to urge travellers to stick together, use trusted transport and avoid leaving with strangers while on holiday.
