Drake teases “Iceman” album with frozen courtside seats at Toronto Raptors game

Drake has sparked excitement around his upcoming album Iceman after teasing the project in a creative stunt at a Toronto Raptors game, where his signature courtside seats were transformed into a frozen display.

The Raptors shared an image online showing the seats, hinting that a new musical era may be on the way, adorned with faux icicles, alongside the caption: “Drake’s seats froze.”

The post quickly drew attention from fans, many of whom took it as a nod to Iceman, a project rumoured since last year and expected to be Drake’s first solo album since 2023.

Drake added to the speculation by liking the post and sharing the iced-out courtside setup on his Instagram story.

The seats at Scotiabank Arena are a familiar spot for the rapper whenever he attends Raptors games, most notably during the franchise’s 2019 NBA Finals run.

By the time Sunday’s game began, the ice had melted, and Drake was not in attendance as the Raptors secured a dominant 136–101 win over the Brooklyn Nets.

The moment adds to a long-standing relationship between Drake and the Raptors.

The Canadian superstar was named the franchise’s global ambassador in 2013 and has since helped shape its cultural identity.

In March 2016, he appeared on the cover of Slam magazine alongside DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry. His influence also extended to team branding, with a black-and-gold colourway inspired by his October’s Very Own label introduced in 2015, while the franchise hosted a “Drake Night” in 2016.

On the music front, anticipation for Iceman continues to build. Drake previewed the project last year with singles “What Did I Miss” and “Which One,” with the former peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

He also teased the album earlier this year while honouring Nelly Furtado at the Juno Awards, saying: “Iceman coming soon.”

With the Raptors returning to the NBA playoffs for the first time since 2022, Drake is expected to be back courtside soon, assuming the seat setup has thawed.

The team is set to face the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 on April 18, setting the stage for both a playoff run and what could be the beginning of Drake’s next musical chapter.
