Nigerian music star and former member of the now-defunct P-Square duo, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has fans talking after announcing a change to his birthday date.
In a post shared on Monday afternoon via his official Instagram page, the singer wrote:
“I am officially changing my birthday date. I’m making it official. November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. Please note that I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day. My birthday will now be celebrated on November 30th. This is a personal decision, and I truly appreciate your understanding.”
Peter, who has remained in the public eye for both his music career and widely reported family disputes within the Okoye family, did not give further details explaining the decision at the time of filing this report.
He rose to prominence as one half of P-Square, the award-winning duo he formed with his twin brother, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy).
The group dominated the African pop scene throughout the 2000s and early 2010s with multiple hit songs before internal conflicts led to their breakup.
The first major fallout became public around 2015, largely revolving around management disagreements involving their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who managed their business affairs. Disputes over royalties, creative direction, and family involvement further strained their relationship.
By 2017, the duo officially split, with both brothers launching solo careers under the names Mr P and Rudeboy.
After several years apart, the twins reunited in November 2021, a moment that excited fans across Africa and beyond.
Their reunion saw them perform together again and release new music, although their comeback did not match the commercial success of their earlier years.
Despite reuniting, tensions reportedly resurfaced, with disagreements over financial transparency, royalty distribution, and corporate structures tied to their music catalogue.
Peter later alleged irregularities linked to their former management arrangement, triggering fresh public exchanges and legal disputes involving members of the Okoye family.
