After a decade away from fashion’s most iconic red carpet, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter is officially making her grand return to the Met Gala and this time, she’s not just attending, she’s leading the night.
The global superstar is set to step back onto the legendary steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday in May, serving as a co-chair for the 2026 Met Gala. She will join an influential line-up that includes Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and long-time organizer Anna Wintour. The appearance marks Beyoncé’s first at the event since 2016, making her return all the more anticipated.
Often dubbed fashion’s biggest night, the annual fundraiser, benefiting the museum’s Costume Institute, will take place on May 4, 2026. This year’s theme, “Costume Art,” is expected to draw some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, all showcasing bold and imaginative interpretations of the concept.
Beyoncé’s history with the Met Gala is nothing short of iconic.
She first attended in 2008 and has since made seven appearances, consistently delivering unforgettable fashion moments.
Her last appearance in 2016, themed “Manus x Machina,” sparked global conversation with a striking Givenchy haute couture look.
While she skipped recent editions, including 2025, her influence on the event has remained undeniable. Her return in 2026 will mark her eighth time attending and her first as a co-chair, a role that places her at the center of the evening’s creative direction and cultural impact.
Although no official look has been confirmed, speculation is already building. Many expect her to wear Saint Laurent, the event’s main sponsor.
Days before the gala, she hinted at the possibility by sharing a photo celebrating the 10th anniversary of her album Lemonade, dressed in a voluminous Saint Laurent ball gown from the brand’s Spring 2026 collection, paired with a Cult Gaia pearl clutch.
