South African music sensation Tyla is set to light up the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a thrilling performance at the tournament’s opening ceremony.

The Grammy-winning star is reportedly scheduled to perform in Mexico City on June 11, 2026, ahead of the opening match between Mexico and South Africa.

Reports further indicate that Tyla will also headline another World Cup opening celebration in Los Angeles on June 12, 2026, marking one of the biggest moments of her rapidly rising international career.

She is expected to perform alongside African music powerhouse Burma Boy and global pop icon Shakira as the world turns its attention to football’s grandest stage.

The performances are being hailed as a major moment for African music and culture, with Tyla and Burna Boy representing the continent through Afrobeat and African pop sounds before millions of fans worldwide.

Their inclusion reflects the growing global influence of African entertainment and its ability to connect audiences across cultures.

“This opening ceremony in Los Angeles represents the extraordinary scale of what the FIFA World Cup 2026 will become,” said Gianni Infantino according to FIFA’s official website.

With her chart-topping hits and electrifying stage presence, Tyla is expected to deliver a memorable performance as Africa takes centre stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
